Rowdy Larson

Junior A-1

Rowdy is a six-year veteran of the Midway club with a total of six years as a speedskater.

Rowdy's favorite race is the 1500 meter.  "It's the King's race.  You've got be be able to sprint to do well in it however also pace yourself so that you don't burn out in the last lap (or earlier).  It's a medium distance that you can get Roseville's biting temperatures over with quickly, yet still enjoy the race and suffer."

"My favorite spedskating moment was taking 3rd in the 3000M at Pack nationals this past year.  My friends and familly witnessed me beating much of the competition that had done better than me in years prior.  I skated a strategic race and decided to attack with 4 laps to go to thin the competition out and then just held onto Gunnar Lundberg and Brandon Molenda for as long as I could, finishing the race .5 seconds ahead of the next person."

When asked why speedskating, Rowdy shared, "I played hockey in Florida (where we used to live), then we moved up here and it became a little too crazy... I continued to skate at the oval and then found speedskating and here I am 6 years later!"

Check out Rowdy's results and personal bests here: <a href="http://www.speedskatingresults.com/index.php?p=17&s=31235" target="_blank">Speedskating Results</a>

Rowdy shared the following about himself outside the rink, "When I'm not speedskating I'm cycling(usually).  I also try to get out and rock climb when I can in the few weeks we have off each year, however it does not happen.  School is the number one priority for me and speedskating and cycling follow after, leaving little time to enjoy other outdoor sports.  I listen to lots of music and my tastes span wide form the Allman Brothers to Atmosphere.  My favorite movie would most likely be any of Simon Pegg; Nick Frost's Cornetto Trilogy."
